Wine cellar Tavčar – Pri Starčih

For Starči, the wine-growing tradition has been passed down from generation to generation for more than 400 years. There are top wines, as well as sparkling wine, liqueurs and spirits. In their oldest plantations, some are more than 50 years old, the grapes are ripened for the most noble wine.
You will experience a wine tasting in a typical karst cellar or right between the vines. The Estate of Pri Starčih family Tavčar sunbathes in the village Križ amid the vineyards and fields. They are proud of the award-winning teran, vitovska grganja and malvasia. Their Chosen Teran was declared Champion 2016 and Merlot 2012 as champion of the Karst Wine Road.

Gourmet products of the Tavčar wine cellar – Pri Starči: 2015 Teran, champion 2016; Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, gold medal 2021 – 4 years matured in barricad barrels; Malvasia 2016 – prolonged maceration,6 years matured in barricad barrels; Orange wine Vitovska 2018 – 100 days of maceration in concrete egg; Reinforced teran wine – matured in cherry barrel; Gin ripened in wood.
